Convergent Linux Platform Spec sheet (PDF | 1.31 MB)

a la Mobile was founded with the firm belief that the industry is ready to embrace Linux as the strategic operating system for mobile phones.

To accelerate the adoption of Linux as the mobile operating system alternative to Windows Mobile and Symbian, a la Mobile has developed a complete Linux systems platform ("Convergent Linux Platform"). Designed to be readily adaptable to wireless handsets, this new platform enables handset manufacturers to bring new Linux-based smartphones to market rapidly while drastically reducing development, testing and deployment costs. Convergent Linux is the first viable mobile operating system alternative to proprietary offerings.

Convergent Linux Platform: An Open Alternative to Proprietary Mobile Operating Systems

Convergent Linux Platform is not just a kernel, middleware or applications. It is a complete software stack for wireless handsets: integrated; tested; certified; supported; and maintained. The architecture is open, configurable, and scalable, designed specifically to give handset manufacturers freedom to select software components and functionality, while enabling network operators to customize the look-and-feel of the device and user experience to suit the varying requirements.

The company's modern business model is unencumbered by legacy businesses. It assumes an open and neutral corporate posture with an eye towards embracing all industry standards as well as the "best of class" software components from third party and open-source partners.

Patent-Pending Technology Adds Seamless Hardware & Network Mobility

At the heart of a la Mobile's Convergent Linux Platform are two patent-pending Software Mobility Engines:

The Hardware Mobility Engine™ enables a tested software suite in binary form (operating system and applications) to move across different hardware platforms without porting or diminishing performance. Furthermore, it prevents application software fragmentation and maintains complete compatibility and interoperability among devices.

The Network Mobility Engine™ provides a policy-based framework for seamless handover between multiple network transports without the need for modifying the operator's infrastructure or the applications. It is ideally suited for IP-based services (voice, data and video).

a la Mobile has filed four (4) patents encompassing various technology elements of its Software Mobility Engines.
